“Pop Singer Cuts Ties with Talent Agency Amid Scandal”

Published:

Pop singer Chappell Roan announced on Monday that she has severed ties with the talent agency overseen by Casey Wasserman, the head of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, who came under scrutiny for engaging in flirtatious email conversations with convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell over two decades ago. Wasserman expressed regret for his interactions with Maxwell following the disclosure of their personal emails.

Newly disclosed files linked to the late financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, Maxwell’s former partner, released by the U.S. Justice Department in recent weeks, featured flirtatious email exchanges between Wasserman, who was married at the time, and Maxwell dating back to 2003.

In a statement on Instagram, Roan stated, “I am no longer represented by Wasserman, the talent agency led by Casey Wasserman. Artists should have representation that is in line with their principles and safeguards their well-being. This decision reflects my belief that substantial change in our industry necessitates accountability and trustworthy leadership.”

Wasserman, a sports and entertainment executive, has refuted any personal or professional ties with Epstein. In his apology for his association with Maxwell, he clarified that their relationship predated the public disclosure of her and Epstein’s criminal activities.

There was no immediate response from the talent agency regarding Roan’s departure. Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year prison term following her 2021 conviction in New York on charges that include sex trafficking of a minor.

Arrested in 2020, Maxwell faced accusations from federal prosecutors of luring and preparing underage girls for sexual liaisons with Epstein between 1994 and 2004. The release of numerous internal documents by the U.S. Justice Department concerning Epstein has unveiled his connections to various influential individuals, both prior to and after his 2008 guilty plea to soliciting a minor for prostitution. Epstein’s demise in a Manhattan prison cell in 2019 was ruled a suicide.
