The Town of Essex and the Essex Region Conservation Authority have issued warnings about flooding in various parts of Essex County. Mayor Sherry Bondy expressed concerns about localized flooding in the Harrow and Colchester areas due to heavy rainfall over a short period. Despite operational pump stations, the rapid influx of rainwater led to knee-deep flooding in some areas, prompting frustration among residents like Shelley Beaudoin.
In response to the situation, the town assured the public that all pumps were operational and staff were actively managing the flooding. The Essex Region Conservation Authority confirmed a flood warning after recording over 60 millimetres of rainfall in the southern region. Among the affected areas is County Road 50 in Essex, which is currently closed due to significant water accumulation.
Authorities advised caution and avoidance of flooded areas due to safety concerns, emphasizing the risks of slippery surfaces and fast-moving water. Mayor Bondy urged residents to refrain from driving through flooded roads to prevent further property damage. Residents were encouraged to report any issues by contacting the Essex town hall.
