An investigation is currently ongoing in Victoria, Australia, related to claims made by Australian actress Ruby Rose, alleging that Katy Perry sexually assaulted her at a Melbourne nightclub around two decades ago. The American singer has denied these allegations. The state police in Victoria did not disclose the names involved but stated they are looking into a “historical sexual assault” incident that reportedly occurred in Melbourne in 2010, corresponding to the timeline of Rose’s accusations.
Rose made the allegations on social media platform Threads, responding to a post about Perry’s reaction to singer Justin Bieber’s performance at Coachella. She mentioned that Perry assaulted her at the Spice Market Nightclub in Melbourne, emphasizing that speaking out was essential for her well-being.
In response to the allegations, a representative for Perry dismissed the claims as false and dangerous, referring to Rose’s history of making public accusations on social media. Victoria Police has refrained from providing additional comments on the matter.
In a series of posts, Rose detailed the alleged assault, stating that Perry forced her face into her genitals, leading to a physical reaction. She explained that she had previously downplayed the incident as a humorous anecdote due to the power dynamics involved and Perry’s offer to assist with her visa process.
Rose expressed gratitude for finding the courage to share her story after nearly two decades, despite facing challenges in doing so. Perry was recently seen at the Coachella music festival in California with her partner, former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, where she posted videos and photos of the event on social media, including reactions to Bieber’s performance.
