Toronto admirers of the K-pop ensemble P1Harmony were pleasantly surprised with an unexpected fan gathering at Trinity Bellwoods Park on Wednesday evening. The park has become a popular spot for celebrities to engage in impromptu meet-ups, as evidenced by singer Daniel Caesar’s recent surprise concert over the weekend.
Originally scheduled to headline a performance at Coca Cola Coliseum, the six-member band, led by KEEHO from Markham, Ontario, had to postpone the show due to a border system outage. The concert has now been rescheduled for October 7. Despite the setback, the band decided to organize a spontaneous meet-and-greet for their fans, known as P1ece. Just before arriving at the park, P1Harmony went live on Instagram to announce the surprise event.
Shortly after the announcement, around 300 fans flocked to the park to catch a glimpse of the band. KEEHO and his bandmates, INTAK, JONGSEOB, JIUNG, SOUL, and THEO, delighted the crowd with dance performances of their popular songs like “EX” and “Duh!” During the gathering, fans were invited to join in the dance, attempting the intricate choreography from the group’s tracks.
Bryce Guinta, a fan from Kitchener, Ontario, was fortunate enough to be selected to dance with the band. He expressed his excitement about interacting with P1Harmony, noting that even THEO gave him a fist bump after their performance. Guinta shared that he learned about the surprise event through an active Discord chatroom dedicated to sharing information about the band, prompting him and his friends to rush to the park in an Uber.
For Becky Menmuir, who traveled from Halifax to Toronto for the event, the fan gathering served as a delightful consolation after purchasing VIP tickets for the original show, which included a meet-and-greet opportunity. Menmuir expressed her increased admiration for the band, affirming her decision to return to Toronto for the rescheduled show next week.
The experience was made possible by KEEHO’s evident pride in his hometown, as he frequently highlights Toronto in videos, introducing local landmarks to his bandmates. During their initial visit to Toronto in 2022, KEEHO took the band to his alma mater, Unionville High School, where he was scouted by FNC Entertainment in 2017. P1Harmony made their music debut on October 28, 2020.
Both Guinta and Menmuir emphasized the significance of sharing the special night with fellow P1Harmony enthusiasts, highlighting the unifying power of the K-pop community. They expressed gratitude towards the band for fostering a sense of camaraderie among fans and creating memorable experiences together.
