Martin Short’s Daughter Katherine Short Passes Away

Katherine Short, the 42-year-old daughter of renowned Canadian actor Martin Short and his late spouse Nancy, has passed away.

A spokesperson for the entertainer, who hails from Hamilton, confirmed the sad news to CBC News, stating, “It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Katherine Hartley Short.”

“The Short family is profoundly saddened by this tragedy and requests privacy during this difficult time. Katherine was cherished by all and will be remembered for the brightness and happiness she brought into the world.”

Martin Short shared a heartfelt tribute to his daughter on Facebook, expressing, “Katherine illuminated our lives with her warmth, kindness, and a joy that touched everyone she encountered.”

Katherine leaves behind her siblings, Henry and Oliver. Her mother passed away in 2010 following a battle with ovarian cancer.

Katherine was discovered deceased at her residence in Hollywood Hills on Monday evening. Multiple news sources, including TMZ, which broke the news first, have reported that Katherine took her own life, citing the Los Angeles Police Department.

Although not active in the entertainment industry, she frequently accompanied her father to various showbiz events.

Short had been set to perform a live comedy act with his co-star Steve Martin from “Only Murders in the Building” in Milwaukee on Friday. The shows in Milwaukee and Minneapolis scheduled for Saturday have been postponed as per the respective venues.
