“Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge Closing for Construction”

Published:

The Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge in North Vancouver will undergo a two-month closure for construction work, as announced by the District of North Vancouver. Commencing on October 1, the construction is scheduled to conclude in mid-December. While Lynn Canyon Park will remain accessible during this time, intermittent closures of trails near the suspension bridge and east parking lot will occur.

The district’s online statement regarding the bridge closure specifies that the Pipeline and Twin Falls bridges within Lynn Canyon Park will remain open throughout the construction period. The construction will focus on replacing the east approach boardwalk and staircase of the suspension bridge, which are at the end of their lifespan.

Visitors are urged to adhere to all signage and trail closures for safety reasons and to avoid work areas. Additionally, the district plans to repair existing drainage areas, reinforce retaining walls, and eliminate hazardous trees as part of the construction project.

Lynn Canyon Park and its suspension bridge are popular attractions in Metro Vancouver, drawing numerous visitors annually. District officials had reported to CBC News last year that the park typically welcomes around half a million visitors each year.
