Canada and the United States are set to compete in a women’s flag football showcase this upcoming weekend. The teams will clash during halftime of the Buffalo Bills’ home game against the New England Patriots at Highmark Stadium, engaging in an eight-minute battle.
This historic event will mark the first time that international women’s flag football teams will face off on an NFL field. Notably, flag football is scheduled to make its debut at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
In anticipation of the match, Canadian quarterback Sara Parker expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “Team Canada is thrilled to showcase our skills at the Bills halftime. We aim to shine a spotlight on flag football, exhibit the talent of our players, and inspire young girls by demonstrating that they too can excel in the sport.”
Canada recently secured a silver medal at the 2025 IFAF Continental Championship in Panama on September 14, following a bronze medal win at the 2025 World Games in China.
Head coach Rachel Lessard expressed gratitude to the Buffalo Bills for the opportunity, emphasizing the significance of playing under the stadium lights and on such a renowned field in front of passionate fans. She highlighted the event as more than just a game, symbolizing unity, respect, and a shared love for sports between the two nations.
