B&M has wowed shoppers with a £40 coffee table that looks similar to a £190 version. The new Home Collection Coffee Table is proving a hit with the retailer’s fans on social media. TikTok user @Demfitter.xo went viral after showcasing the new furniture in a video post.
The happy shopper told viewers: “Don’t walk run to B&M for the new coffee table!!” She added: “Got my hands on the new B&M coffee table OBSESSED.” The video received 90,000 views and several responses from impressed commenters.
One said: “Omg love this!!” and when someone commented: “It’s tiny for a coffee table. More like a side table,” @Demfitter.xo replied: “It’s the perfect size for my living room they do a matching side table.”
According to B&M’s description: “This Home Collection Coffee Table is perfect for resting drinks, books or remotes.” B&M adds that the table has a ‘stunning light oak finish’ and is easy to self-assemble.
The table closely resembles Daals’ Maru Round Oak Pedestal Coffee Table, priced at £189.99. While Daals’ popular table is available in several colours, the oak version looks most like B&M’s offering.
The coffee tables are similar in colour and shape, with both retailers opting for a round table with elegant panelling. However, Daals’ table is made from solid oak with fluted panelling.
The product description says: “Meet the new addition to our Maru range, the Maru Coffee Table boasts contemporary Japandi style with a pedestal fluted base made from solid oak. Crafted from solid and oak veneer and clear lacquer, each table has its unique natural grains and knots.”
There’s also a notable difference in size. While the B&M table measures approximately 60 x 40 cm and weighs approximately 5kg, the more expensive option measures 80 x 80 x 40 cm and weighs 14.7 kg.
Elsewhere, Furniture Box also offers a table that looks similar to both designs with its Penrose Oak Effect Round Wood Pedestal Coffee Table, priced at £189.99, on offer from £239.99. Again, there are differences in size and material when compared to B&M’s table.
The product description states: “Our Penrose oak effect round wooden pedestal coffee table is a simple yet elegant end table for your living room. Featuring a single slatted wood pillar leg, the Penrose is all about clean lines and simple shapes, drawing inspiration from Scandi and Japanese interior design.
“Perfect for keeping your living room essentials tidy and room for the all important cup of tea. Constructed from sturdy and durable wood composite with a matte oak effect scratch-resistant melamine veneer finish that has wood grain details. The Penrose coffee table will look fab in any modern home with its sleek minimalist look.”
That said, any of the tables could add a touch of elegance to your home. With a significantly lower price point, B&M’s option could be very attractive for shoppers looking for more affordable furniture.
