Kate Garraway makes announcement on air as she says ‘thanks for having me’

Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway has been gracing the screen on Lorraine Kelly’s ITV show during the recent holiday period. With the regular Scottish presenter taking a break, Kate has taken the reins.

Yet, as Wednesday’s show came to a close, she announced her departure to the audience. She commented: “Thanks for having me, all of you!

“You’ll all be relieved to know Christine is here tomorrow, joined by Emmerdale’s Joe Tate.”

Typically, ITV audiences expect to see Ranvir Singh and Christine Lampard share presenting duties when Lorraine takes time off, but Kate’s presence this week has charmed viewers.

One viewer expressed their approval, commenting: “Ok, already I’m thinking just make Kate the permanent holiday cover. Love her.”

Another complimented: “Great to see you Kate.” Someone else wrote: “@lorraine loving @kategarraway standing in for Lorraine she is a ray of sunshine! More Kate everywhere!”

One enthusiastic fan took to Twitter, writing: “@lorraine @kategarraway Morning Kate! WAS it REALLY 2014 when you were last presenting the programme! ! TOO LONG, great having you back, don’t leave it SOO LONG next time!”

Kate began her stint at the helm of Lorraine this Monday, admitting that over a decade had passed since she last presented the daytime favourite, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Greeting viewers at the start of the week, she remarked: “Hello! Dr. Hilary is here with me to hold my hand. Thanks, Hil.”

As Dr. Hilary welcomed her back to the show, he acknowledged it was quite a nostalgic moment given how long it had been since she filled in for Lorraine.

Kate revealed that her last stint hosting Lorraine dated back to 2014, as a vintage clip of her flashed on-screen, showcasing a chic fringe and sleek bob.

The ITV personality shared: “It’s lovely to be back, Christine and Ranvir obviously always come and do the show when Lorraine is off.

“They weren’t free, so they had a good old scrape at the bottom of the barrel and found me!”

Dr Hilary then inquired about Kate’s life at home with her two children, Billy and Darcey, and she disclosed that her son is currently navigating his GCSEs.

Lorraine is available to watch on ITVX.
