Dillon Danis calls out Jake Paul after ‘retiring’ two boxing rivals

MMA fighter Dillon Danis is targeting a boxing showdown with Jake Paul after he ‘retried’ rivals KSI and Logan Paul.

The American was scheduled to fight KSI on March 29 in Manchester, but the latter pulled out of the contest due to illness. The build-up wasn’t without controversy, though. KSI slapped his rival with a pancake when they faced off after an intense press conference. Security were forced to separate the two fighters and eventually calm the teams down.

Danis, despite having a big background in jiu-jitsu, has fought once inside the squared-circle. The 31-year-old fought Paul’s older brother Logan back in 2023, but was disqualified in the final round after attempting to choke out his rival in Manchester – which sparked chaotic scenes.

It remains to be seen whether Misfits will rebook the clash between KSI and Danis. The latter is due to take on UFC legend Tony Ferguson inside the cage next month. That said, the GFL star is clearly not done with the sport of boxing after calling out ‘The Problem Child.’ In a post uploaded to X – formerly known as Twitter – the American boasted about ending the careers of KSI and Paul and is eyeing up a clash with the YouTuber-turned-boxer.

“I’ve officially retired Logan Paul and KSI from boxing. I said from day one I’d be the one to put an end to all of this. Just one left… Jake Paul,” Danis posted. A separate tweet read: “I’ve retired KSI without even throwing a punch.” The American’s swipe at KSI came just moments after the Brit provided an update on hix boxing future.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, KSI said: “When I told Mams [Taylor] and everybody else that I wasn’t going to be able to do this fight, I broke down. I was there crying in my room because I felt I let everybody down. I know how the internet works, I know how this game goes.

“If I tried to fight and got into the ring and had a s*** performance, no one would care that I was sick. My boxing career since I have come back has been problem after problem, and just being unlucky over and over again. And it is a shame. The amount of stress I have gone through over the last few years. Even with Misfits in general, it’s been stressful. I feel like I’ve aged in these two and a half years of Misfits being created. So, where am I in terms of Boxing? I don’t know. Am I going to retire? I don’t know. Am I going to fight again? I don’t know.”

When asked about his boxing future while commentating on Ballers League in a live stream, KSI said: “I don’t need to fight, if we’re being honest. Do I really need to fight? Is money low? Is there a fight that really needs to happen? ‘But Jake Paul.’ Well, I don’t think that’s ever going to happen so besides that what else is there?”

Danis’ call-out of Paul is certainly a surprising one. That said, the American is on the lookout for an opponent. ‘The Problem Child’ hasn’t fought since defeating former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson back in November. There were talks of a showdown with Canelo Alvarez this year, but the Mexican instead opted to pen a lucrative deal with Riyadh Season in a brutal snub to the 28-year-old.
