Jimmy Kimmel is set to take a break from his late-night show for two months and has selected comedian Rosie O’Donnell, a longtime adversary of Donald Trump, as one of the guest hosts during his absence. Kimmel humorously announced his break during the latest episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and mentioned that a group of guest hosts, including Colman Domingo, Tiffany Haddish, Ike Barinholtz, Anthony Anderson, and Jelly Roll, will be filling in starting July 6.
During the announcement, Kimmel revealed that Rosie O’Donnell, a favorite of Trump, will be present to entertain the audience. The ongoing feud between O’Donnell and Trump dates back to 2006 when O’Donnell criticized him on “The View.” Their conflict escalated in early 2025 when O’Donnell relocated to Ireland following Trump’s re-election, citing the stress caused by his political influence and threats to revoke her U.S. citizenship.
In response, Trump posted on social media about potentially revoking O’Donnell’s citizenship, labeling her a “threat to humanity.” O’Donnell retaliated on Instagram, accusing Trump of being a criminal and a liar. The feud intensified when Trump shared a manipulated image of O’Donnell and hinted at revoking her citizenship again, prompting a sharp response from O’Donnell.
As Kimmel prepares for his hiatus and the guest appearance of Rosie O’Donnell, he concluded the announcement with a playful jab at Trump, urging him not to do anything foolish in his absence.
