The Royal Family faces renewed scrutiny with the release of a posthumous memoir by Virginia Giuffre, a prominent accuser of Prince Andrew and Jeffrey Epstein. Titled “Nobody’s Girl,” the book sheds light on Giuffre’s allegations of sexual abuse by Andrew and involvement in Epstein’s trafficking ring with Ghislaine Maxwell. While the memoir doesn’t unveil new revelations, it has reignited accusations against Andrew, who seeks to mitigate the fallout from his association with Epstein.
In response to the memoir, the 65-year-old prince announced his decision to relinquish his royal titles, including the Duke of York, while vehemently refuting Giuffre’s claims. The book, which surged to the top of Amazon’s bestseller list prior to its launch, recounts Giuffre’s encounters with Andrew beginning in 2001.
Detailing three interactions with Andrew, Giuffre recounted how she was introduced to the prince by Maxwell and Epstein at 17 and allegedly coerced into sexual activities on multiple occasions. She described a scenario where Maxwell likened her to Cinderella meeting a prince, leading to subsequent encounters with Andrew in New York and the Caribbean.
Giuffre had previously filed a lawsuit in New York in 2021, accusing Andrew, Epstein, and Maxwell of sexual abuse and trafficking. In 2022, Andrew settled the lawsuit with Giuffre, acknowledging her suffering as a victim of sex trafficking without admitting guilt. The settlement marked a symbolic victory for Giuffre, who sought acknowledgment and closure from the prince.
Amid mounting pressure, calls have intensified for Buckingham Palace and the U.K. government to strip Andrew of his titles and privileges. Lawmakers are pushing for legislative action to officially remove Andrew’s royal status. Ghostwriter Amy Wallace, coauthor of the memoir, emphasized the significance of Giuffre’s courage in holding Andrew accountable and advocating for justice.
