Published:

Add one more notable name to the list of Junos attendees: Prime Minister Mark Carney.

Mark Carney will be attending his first Junos event at Hamilton’s TD Coliseum on Sunday night.

Other distinguished guests expected at the ceremony include Joni Mitchell, set to receive a prestigious lifetime achievement award, and Nelly Furtado, who will be officially honored at the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

A special tribute for Mitchell will be performed by Sarah McLachlan and Allison Russell, while Alessia Cara, Jully Black, Shawn Desman, and Tanya Tagaq will join forces for a musical celebration of Furtado’s career.

Although top nominees like Justin Bieber, Tate McRae, and The Weeknd will not be in attendance, the event promises a star-studded lineup.

The Junos, hosted by the multi-talented Mae Martin, will be broadcast on CBC TV, CBC Gem, and various CBC platforms at 8 p.m. ET this Sunday.
