“Oscars 2022: Uncertainty and Surprises Await!”

Published:

Welcome to this year’s Academy Awards filled with uncertainty and surprises. While some winners like “Sinners” and “One Battle After Another” seem like safe bets for best original and adapted screenplay, respectively, other categories are wide open due to the unpredictable awards season and a diverse range of films.

As the Oscars night approaches, the spotlight is on the fierce competition in major categories. In the Best Picture category, “One Battle After Another” and “Sinners” are the top contenders, with the former leading in nominations but facing a challenge from the latter, especially after a late-stage win at the Actor Awards.

In the Best Director race, the odds favor Paul Thomas Anderson for “One Battle After Another,” but Ryan Coogler for “Sinners” is also a strong contender, with a potential dark horse in Josh Safdie for “Marty Supreme.”

For Best Actor, Michael B. Jordan in “Sinners” is the frontrunner, closely followed by Timothée Chalamet for “Marty Supreme,” while Ethan Hawke’s performance in “Blue Moon” is a deserving underdog choice.

In the Best Actress category, Jessie Buckley in “Hamnet” seems poised for success, with Rose Byrne in “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You” as a distant possibility and Eva Victor in “Sorry, Baby” unjustly overlooked.

The Best Supporting Actor and Actress races feature intriguing matchups, with Amy Madigan in “Weapons” and Sean Penn in “One Battle After Another” leading their categories, but facing tough competition from Teyana Taylor, Wunmi Mosaku, Stellan Skarsgård, and Delroy Lindo.

As the anticipation builds for the big night, the only certainty is that this year’s Oscars will be a thrilling and unpredictable event.
