NordSpace is gearing up for the launch of its Taiga rocket, a six-meter tall commercial rocket, in St. Lawrence, Newfoundland. After facing delays in August, the company is now eyeing a launch on Monday on the south coast of the province.
The Taiga rocket, crafted from 3D-printed metal and powered by a single engine, is set for liftoff pending favorable conditions. NordSpace indicated that the current weather forecast suggests the launch might not happen in the morning, with a slim chance of a suitable window between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. However, the company expressed optimism for better launch opportunities on Tuesday and Thursday.
Despite previous setbacks in late August, including an ignition issue that halted a launch attempt just 58 seconds before liftoff, NordSpace remains prepared for the upcoming launch. The mission is planned to be suborbital, with the rocket expected to spend approximately a minute in the air before descending into the Atlantic Ocean.
NordSpace CEO Rahul Goel highlighted St. Lawrence’s strategic location for commercial space launches due to its favorable orbital inclinations. The company’s diligent launch crews are conducting regular system tests and stand ready for the imminent launch.
