“Israeli Admiration: Trump’s Role in Gaza Ceasefire”

Published:

Tens of thousands of Israelis gathered at Hostages Square in Tel Aviv on Saturday, unveiling a large black banner with bright yellow lettering that reads, “Nobel President Trump.” This public display of admiration for the U.S. president, despite not winning the Nobel Peace Prize, is due to his perceived role in facilitating a ceasefire to secure the return of 48 hostages in Gaza, with 20 believed to be alive.

Miriam Ben Yehuda from Sderot, Israel, expressed gratitude for Trump’s efforts towards peace and eagerly awaits the fruition of the deal. Trump is set to address the Knesset, Israel’s parliament, on Monday, where he is anticipated to receive acclaim for his involvement in the ceasefire.

American flags lining the highway between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem symbolize the support for Trump, with an electronic billboard in Tel Aviv likening him to Cyrus the Great, who liberated the Jews from Babylonia according to biblical accounts. Furthermore, comparisons between Trump and historical figures like Oskar Schindler, who saved Jewish lives during World War II, are being made in public displays across the city.

Rami Lador, holding an American flag in Tel Aviv, appreciates Trump’s assertive approach towards the peace negotiations. Trump’s stern warnings to Hamas, threatening severe consequences if the hostages were not released, played a pivotal role in pressuring both sides to reach an agreement. Despite opposition from some Israeli politicians, Trump’s influence ultimately led to Netanyahu accepting the ceasefire deal.

After a diplomatic exchange involving Netanyahu, Trump, and the Qatari Prime Minister, negotiations gained momentum. Trump’s envoy, Steven Wikoff, who extensively traveled in the Middle East laying the groundwork for talks, also played a crucial role in the successful negotiations.

While Trump is lauded for his diplomatic achievement, Netanyahu faces criticism from hostage families and the Israeli public for the prolonged captivity of the hostages and ongoing conflict with Hamas. Netanyahu’s perceived failure to secure the hostages’ release earlier is a point of contention amidst the celebrations of the impending return of the hostages.
