“Nordic Spa & Hotel Construction Set for Saskatoon”

Published:

Construction for a highly anticipated Nordic spa and hotel in the Willows neighborhood of Saskatoon is scheduled to begin in 2026, as confirmed by Travis Batting, the president of Scandvik Hotels. The planned Scandinavian-style wellness hotel and spa, featuring 120 rooms, will offer views of the 15th hole of the Rob Carrick-designed golf course at the Willows. Batting mentioned that more information regarding the project, including the hotel brand affiliation, specifics, and timeline, will be disclosed soon.

Scandvik Hotels had previously stated that the construction of the hotel and spa is expected to last 18 months. The Saskatoon City Council recently approved modifications to the Willows Neighbourhood Concept Plan to accommodate the spa.

The proposed spa by Scandvik Hotels will cater exclusively to adults and include amenities such as outdoor thermal and cold plunge pools, saunas, steam rooms, treatment and meditation spaces, as well as fitness and relaxation areas. The project faced opposition from some Willows residents when it was first introduced in January 2021, with concerns raised about potential disturbances to the neighborhood’s tranquility and fears of property devaluation due to obstructed views.

Initially met with strong resistance, the project was rejected by the council. However, it later received zoning approval in 2023, prompting alterations to the Willows golf course, reducing it from 27 holes to 18.

The upcoming Nordic spa and hotel venture at the Willows Golf Community in Saskatoon by Scandvik Hotels aims to deliver a unique Scandinavian Boutique Wellness experience.
