Megan Thee Stallion was taken to the hospital for medical attention while performing in the Broadway production of Moulin Rouge! The Musical due to feeling unwell. She later shared on social media that she had been overexerting herself recently.

According to a spokesperson speaking to Variety, the singer started feeling ill during Tuesday’s show, prompting an understudy to step in. The medical team diagnosed her with extreme exhaustion, dehydration, vasoconstriction, and low metabolic levels. After being discharged, she was advised to rest.

In an Instagram post, the Grammy-winning artist announced she would be taking a break from the Wednesday performances to recover and return to the stage on Thursday with renewed energy. She expressed her realization of pushing herself too hard and the fear she experienced on stage when her body could no longer keep up.

Megan Thee Stallion made her Broadway debut playing Harold Zidler in Moulin Rouge! The Musical and was scheduled to finish her eight-week run on May 17. Notably, she is the first female performer to portray MC in a professional production of the musical, following in the footsteps of artists like Boy George and Wayne Brady.

The rapper had embraced the challenge of theater, citing the demand for discipline and storytelling in Broadway. She expressed excitement about showcasing a different aspect of her talent to her fans.

Various musicians, including Mariah Carey and Justin Bieber, have also faced health issues related to exhaustion in the past. The production of Moulin Rouge! The Musical is set to conclude its successful seven-year run on July 26, featuring a modern twist on classic tunes like Single Ladies and Firework alongside the iconic Lady Marmalade.
