“Calgary Flames Gear Up for NHL Playoffs Surge”

Published:

The Calgary Flames are aiming to build on their momentum from last season and secure a spot in the NHL playoffs. Despite finishing just outside the postseason for the third consecutive year, the Flames ended the previous season with a strong 15-6-6 record, following the 4 Nations Face-Off in February.

With a majority of the team’s core players returning and the infusion of young talent by general manager Craig Conroy, the Flames are looking to not only maintain their 15-point improvement from the previous season but also push for further success.

Center Nazem Kadri, who led the team with 35 goals and 32 assists last season, emphasized the need for the Flames to find additional points to elevate their performance. The team kicks off the 2025-26 regular season with consecutive away games in Edmonton and Vancouver before their home opener against the St. Louis Blues.

Head coach Ryan Huska, entering his third season with the Flames, recently signed a contract extension through the 2027-28 season, providing stability to the team. The Flames will rely on key players like Mikael Backlund, Blake Coleman, Jonathan Huberdeau, Kadri, and MacKenzie Weegar to uphold a culture of hard work and enjoyment.

The progression of players like Huberdeau, who recorded 62 points last season, and the emergence of young talents like Matt Coronato, Connor Zary, Kevin Bahl, and Dustin Wolf, have been instrumental in the team’s growth. Wolf, in particular, signed a significant seven-year, $52.5 million contract extension after his standout performance as a rookie.

Looking ahead, the Flames emphasize the importance of blending experienced players with rising stars to maintain competitiveness. The team remains determined to prove any skeptics wrong and set high standards for themselves. As the Flames prepare for a new era with the construction of the Scotia Place arena, anticipation and excitement are building within the organization to embrace this upcoming chapter in their history.
