Kevin Spacey Settles Sexual Assault Claims

Published:

Three men who accused actor Kevin Spacey of sexual assault have reached settlements for their civil claims before the trial at the High Court in London, according to court documents. The men claimed that the Academy Award-winning actor had abused them between 2000 and 2013. Kevin Spacey has denied these allegations.

The civil trials, scheduled for later this year, were put on hold by Judge Christina Lambert last week after the parties agreed to the settlement terms. The judge ordered a stay on further proceedings against the defendant as per the agreed terms, which were kept confidential. No specifics about the terms or costs were disclosed, and the order was made public on Wednesday.

Kevin Spacey, who was acquitted of all nine sex-offense charges in the U.K. in 2023, had faced allegations from four men in the criminal trial. Two of the claimants in the civil case provided testimony during Spacey’s criminal trial. Additionally, Spacey successfully defended himself in a $40 million US civil lawsuit in New York in 2022 brought by actor Anthony Rapp.

Once a highly acclaimed actor known for his roles in films like “Glengarry Glen Ross” and “American Beauty” and the TV series “House of Cards,” Spacey’s career was marred by the sexual abuse allegations. Despite finding work in recent years, the roles have mostly been in smaller films or stage productions rather than the prominent Hollywood projects he was previously associated with. Kevin Spacey, 66, also served as the artistic director of London’s Old Vic Theatre from 2004 to 2015.

Spacey’s representatives have been contacted for comments regarding the recent settlements.
