Joseph Duggar, a former cast member of the popular TLC reality show “19 Kids and Counting,” was taken into custody in Arkansas on charges of engaging in inappropriate behavior with a minor, authorities confirmed on Wednesday. The arrest pertains to an incident that occurred in Florida in 2020, where a 14-year-old girl alleged that Duggar had behaved inappropriately towards her during a family trip to Panama City Beach when she was 9 years old.
Duggar was apprehended in Tontitown, Arkansas, the location where “19 Kids and Counting” was filmed. A statement from the Bay County Sheriff’s Office revealed that the victim’s father confronted Duggar about the incidents in March 2026, to which Duggar admitted his actions both to the victim’s father and Tontitown Detectives.
A separate release from the Tontitown Police Department indicated that a warrant was issued for Duggar’s arrest on the same day, and he is now awaiting extradition to Bay County. Neither Duggar nor his family members have publicly addressed the allegations.
This arrest follows a similar legal ordeal involving Joseph Duggar’s brother, Josh Duggar, who was convicted in 2022 for possessing illicit material depicting child sexual abuse. Federal authorities became involved after discovering such material being shared from a computer linked to Josh Duggar. The investigation revealed that a computer at a car dealership owned by Josh Duggar was utilized to download explicit content in 2019, resulting in his imprisonment for 12½ years.
Furthermore, the cancellation of “19 Kids and Counting” in 2015 was prompted by allegations that Josh Duggar had molested his sisters and a babysitter years earlier. Despite authorities determining that the statute of limitations had expired for any charges, the show was terminated by TLC. In response to the allegations resurfacing in 2015, Duggar’s parents acknowledged his misconduct and his subsequent resignation from the Family Research Council. Joseph Duggar expressed his shock upon learning about his brother’s hidden actions, stating, “It broke my heart.”
