Tegan Quin, known for her work in the pop-indie duo Tegan and Sara, has contributed to the Marvel Comics pride special one-shot, titled “Wiccan & Hulking: Raid of Ultron #1”, set to be released on May 27. This comic showcases the gay couple Wiccan and Hulkling along with their families, emphasizing the significance of community and connections during challenging times.
In Quin’s narrative, which is brought to life by illustrator Luciano Vecchio, the focus is on twins Wiccan and Speed teaming up to combat Ultron while navigating their individual paths as siblings. Quin expressed her excitement about writing for Wiccan and Speed, stating that as a twin herself, these characters hold a special place in her heart within the Marvel Universe.
The story also includes contributions from other writers like Wyatt Kennedy, Josh Trujillo, and Zoe Tunnell, as well as artists Rachael Stott, Bradley Clayton, and Stephen Byrne. Quin, who is based in Vancouver, is actively supporting Loghan Paylor’s novel “The Cure for Drowning” on Canada Reads 2026.
Canada Reads is an event where five Canadian personalities select a book they believe all Canadians should read. The participants engage in debates over four days, eliminating one book daily until a winner emerges. This year’s Canada Reads edition is scheduled for April 13 to 16.
Throughout her career, Quin and her sister have launched ten studio albums, featuring popular tracks such as “Closer,” “Where Does The Good Go,” and “Walking with A Ghost.” Their music has garnered significant success, earning them various accolades including Juno and GLAAD awards, a Governor General’s Performing Arts Award, and nominations for prestigious honors like the Polaris Music Prize and the Grammy Awards.
In 2019, the duo ventured into writing with their joint memoir, “High School,” and a middle-grade graphic novel series titled “Tegan & Sara: Junior High,” beautifully illustrated by Tillie Walden. Additionally, they established the Tegan and Sara Foundation to provide support and resources for 2SLGBTQ+ communities, leading to their recognition with the Humanitarian Award at the 2024 Junos.
