A woman from Florida has been charged with attempted murder and other serious offenses after allegedly firing gunshots at Rihanna’s residence in Los Angeles. The incident took place outside the singer’s gated home in the Beverly Hills area. The accused, Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, faces multiple felony charges, including assault with a semi-automatic firearm and shooting at an inhabited vehicle or dwelling.
According to District Attorney Nathan Hochman, Rihanna, her partner A$AP Rocky, their three children, and Rihanna’s mother were present on the property during the shooting, but fortunately, no one was injured. Ortiz, 35, appeared in Superior Court of Los Angeles County before Judge Theresa McGonigle, where her attorney, Deputy public defender Jamarcus Bradford, initially entered a plea of not guilty but later postponed the arraignment to March 25. Ortiz is currently held on $1.8 million US bail.
The court issued a protective order for Ortiz to stay away from Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, and their residence, prohibiting her from possessing any firearms or ammunition. It was revealed that 10 individuals were inside Rihanna’s home at the time of the shooting, as confirmed by Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell. Ortiz, who reportedly traveled from Florida to the area, was arrested following the incident, and a weapon was recovered from her possession.
Public records indicate that Ortiz, a licensed speech pathologist for over ten years, resided in Orlando before the incident. Law enforcement authorities have not disclosed any known connection between Ortiz and Rihanna. Requests for comments from Rihanna’s publicist and manager, as well as the public defender’s office, have not been responded to at the time of reporting.
Visual evidence from KABC-TV displayed bullet holes in the front gate of Rihanna’s home, with police dispatch audio indicating that 10 shots were fired. Rihanna, a nine-time Grammy Award winner known for hits such as “We Found Love” and “Umbrella,” recently welcomed her third child, Rocki Irish Mayers, with A$AP Rocky in September 2025.
