Kitchener’s Odd Duck Wine & Provisions has received recognition in the prestigious Michelin Guide as a recommended destination, it was disclosed on Thursday evening. This acknowledgment places Odd Duck alongside Langdon Hall in Cambridge as featured establishments in the guide.
During the announcement on Thursday, Michelin revealed the ratings awarded to various restaurants in Toronto and the surrounding area, which include two stars, one star, a green star emphasizing the use of local and sustainable ingredients, a Bib Gourmand title honoring eateries offering exceptional food at reasonable prices, and a list of recommended restaurants.
The Michelin Guide, originating in 1889 in France, is renowned for its esteemed restaurant and hotel recommendations. This marks the second year that Michelin has extended its evaluation beyond Toronto for its city guide. The guide’s entry into Canada began in 2022 with editions for Toronto and Vancouver.
Following the announcement, Odd Duck hosted a modest celebration on Thursday evening to commemorate their success. Emma Osmand, the restaurant’s bar manager, expressed gratitude on Instagram, reflecting on the journey of Odd Duck.
Jasmine Mangalaseril, CBC K-W’s food columnist, emphasized the significance of being featured in the Michelin Guide. She highlighted that inclusion in the guide not only acknowledges the culinary craftsmanship and innovation at Langdon Hall and Odd Duck but also draws attention to the thriving gastronomic scene in the region. Mangalaseril mentioned other notable establishments like La Lola Tapas Bar, recognized for outstanding Spanish cuisine in Canada by Canada’s 100 Best, which will likely attract more food enthusiasts to explore the local culinary offerings.
