“Wimbledon Champion Swiatek Secures 400th Career Victory in China Open”

Published:

Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek secured her 400th career victory by defeating Camila Osorio and progressing to the fourth round at the China Open in Beijing on Monday. Swiatek, who has consistently excelled at WTA-1000 events with 25 or more wins for three consecutive seasons, displayed her dominance by overwhelming Osorio 6-0 in the first set, leading to Osorio’s retirement at the start of the second set.

Expressing regret for her opponent’s early exit, Swiatek acknowledged Osorio’s effort while highlighting her own strong performance in the match. Swiatek, seeded at the top and fresh off a triumph at the Korea Open in Seoul, is set to face off against American Emma Navarro in the upcoming round. Navarro advanced after Lois Boisson retired when trailing 6-2, 1-0 in their match.

Elsewhere in the tournament, Jessica Pegula staged a remarkable comeback by saving three match points before defeating Emma Raducanu 3-6, 7-6 (9), 6-0, extending her winning record against the British player to 3-1. In additional third-round clashes, Mirra Andreeva beat Jessica Bouzas Maneiro 6-4, 6-1, while Marta Kostyuk triumphed over Aliaksandra Sasnovich 6-4, 6-2.

In the men’s competition, top-seeded Jannik Sinner breezed into the semifinals by defeating Fabian Marozsan 6-1, 7-5. Sinner is set to face third-seeded Alex de Minaur in the next round after De Minaur advanced due to Jakub Mensik’s retirement while trailing 4-1 in the opening set.

Meanwhile, Daniil Medvedev secured a notable victory by defeating second-seeded Alexander Zverev 6-3, 6-3, reaching his 60th career semifinal and his first since June. Notably, Medvedev’s wins against Zverev this year are his only top-10 victories in 2025, with his latest triumph being against the German player.

Over in Tokyo, Carlos Alcaraz rallied from a set down to defeat fourth-seeded Casper Ruud 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the Japan Open semifinals, marking his personal best 66th win of the season. Alcaraz is set to face second-seeded Taylor Fritz in the final after Fritz’s victory over Jenson Brooksby. Fritz, who delivered a strong performance with 13 aces, previously bested Alcaraz at the Laver Cup last week.
