“13 Arrested in Connection with Mistaken Identity Murder”

Published:

Thirteen individuals were apprehended by law enforcement in Quebec and Ontario on Tuesday in connection with the slaying of a 45-year-old woman who was mistakenly targeted instead of her son, a member of a notorious gang.

The group taken into custody comprises both males and females aged between 18 and 51 years. Six of them are scheduled to appear in court later on Tuesday to face charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

Captain Marie-Manon Savard of the Quebec City police department disclosed that the individuals arrested were implicated in the killing of Jennifer Morin, who lost her life at her residence in Quebec City in December 2024. Savard highlighted that Morin’s demise was a case of mistaken identity, as the alleged perpetrators were actually targeting her son, Jeffrey Morin, associated with the infamous gang known as the Blood Family Mafia.

The police operation conducted on Tuesday, spearheaded by Quebec City police and involving over 200 officers from the Ontario Provincial Police and various Quebec departments, focused on 14 different locations.

One individual linked to Morin’s homicide was apprehended at the Quebec City detention center, where they were being held. The ongoing rivalry between the Blood Family Mafia and the Hells Angels biker gang for dominance in the drug trade in and around Quebec City has resulted in a series of violent incidents, including multiple fatalities.

Jeffrey Morin, who was engaged in cocaine dealing at the time, was sentenced to six years and nine months in prison after pleading guilty to drug and weapon trafficking charges in July. An undercover agent had been procuring cocaine and semi-automatic firearms from Morin during that period.

Captain Savard described Tuesday’s police operation as one of the largest in the history of the Quebec City police force, emphasizing the extensive investigative work that culminated in the day’s raids.
