Violent misogynistic graffiti found on an overpass in northwest London was swiftly removed by city workers on Wednesday after women’s advocates strongly condemned the hateful messages. The graffiti, which included phrases like “Kill women” and “Females should be hung,” was discovered along Fanshawe Park Road overlooking the Medway Valley. Additionally, offensive language like “F**ck you wh**re” was also spray-painted on the concrete barriers.
An investigation has been launched by London police to identify the individuals responsible for the graffiti, reported to authorities on Tuesday evening. Jessie Rodger, the leader of Anova, an organization dedicated to combating gender-based violence, expressed outrage at the vandalism, labeling it as “disgusting,” “violent,” and “hateful.” Rodger emphasized the need to address such incidents seriously, as they contribute to a culture of violence and discrimination.
The hate crime unit within the police department is actively looking into the matter, stressing the importance of holding the perpetrators accountable. Rodger reiterated the significance of uncovering the culprits to combat violence against women and marginalized communities. City workers promptly cleaned off the offensive graffiti, symbolizing a swift response to eradicate such expressions of hate.
