Vancouver Rise FC clinched the final playoff spot in the Northern Super League after a 1-1 draw against Halifax Tides FC. The Rise’s 9-7-6 record allowed them to advance to the postseason alongside AFC Toronto, Ottawa Rapid FC, and Montreal Roses FC in the women’s professional soccer league.
Milly Clegg scored early for the Tides in the 14th minute, but Holly Ward equalized for the Rise in the 62nd minute. Halifax, with a record of 3-13-6, secured their third draw in the last six matches. Vancouver dominated possession with 65% compared to Halifax’s 35% and outshot them 23-5 at Wanderers Grounds in Halifax.
In another game, Wild FC defeated Roses 2-0, breaking a four-game losing streak. Calgary missed out on the playoffs due to Vancouver’s draw. Meggie Dougherty-Howard scored just before halftime for Wild’s first goal since August 16, and Jorian Baucom added another in the 78th minute. Stephanie Bukovec made six saves for the shutout in Laval, Quebec. Montreal, at 10-7-5, suffered their second consecutive loss but had already secured a playoff spot.
