A tragic incident on Tecumseh Road East over the weekend has resulted in the death of a 41-year-old man, according to authorities. The collision, which occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 6, involved a pickup truck colliding with a sedan near McDougall Street before crossing into oncoming traffic and crashing head-on into an SUV. This devastating crash left six individuals injured, five of whom were taken to the hospital, including the critically injured driver.
The occupants of the SUV were identified as Shane Prutchick, Stephanie McDowell, and their three children. Tragically, Shane Prutchick succumbed to his injuries following the collision. Windsor police confirmed the unfortunate news, expressing condolences to his family and informing that the investigation is ongoing.
Following the incident, Shane’s brother, Mike Prutchick, shared the news of his passing on social media, urging others to cherish the memories and enjoy some Metallica in his honor. Additionally, individuals who bravely assisted in rescuing Shane during the fiery crash were recognized for their heroism.
A 34-year-old man has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm and leaving the scene of the collision in connection to the incident. Authorities are in contact with the police for any updates regarding the charges against him.
