Russell Brand Faces New Rape, Assault Allegations

Published:

British authorities disclosed on Tuesday that Russell Brand, the well-known comedian and actor, is facing fresh allegations of rape and sexual assault. These new charges, approved by the Crown Prosecution Service, involve two women and come after five initial charges were brought in April concerning four other women. The previous charges included two counts of rape, one of indecent assault, and two of sexual assault, dating back over twenty years.

Brand, aged 50, is set to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on January 20, 2026, for the latest accusations. Furthermore, a trial for the earlier charges is scheduled to commence at Southwark Crown Court on June 16, 2026. Reuters has made efforts to contact Brand for his response.

In May, Brand entered a plea of not guilty to the original five charges. Once a prominent figure in British broadcasting and previously married to American singer Katy Perry, he has consistently denied any involvement in non-consensual sexual activities.

Following the initial charges in April, Brand addressed the situation on X, acknowledging past mistakes but vehemently denying any wrongdoing. He expressed, “what I never was, was a rapist. I’ve never engaged in non-consensual activity.”

In recent years, the actor has transitioned into social commentary, hosting a program on the contentious video platform Rumble, touted as being resistant to cancel culture. The investigation into Brand’s alleged offenses was initiated in September 2023 after revelations surfaced on Channel 4 TV’s Dispatches show and in the Sunday Times newspaper.
