The upcoming opening of a new Costco in Windsor is no longer a secret, with expectations for the store to begin operations next year, offering $1.50 hot dogs to residents in the city’s east end. Developer Rocco Tullio has confirmed that construction is in progress, aiming for completion of the roads and infrastructure on the eight-hectare site at Tecumseh Road East near Lauzon Parkway by December 15, possibly earlier if favorable weather conditions persist.
Rock Developments, led by Tullio, is preparing the land, while the actual store construction will be undertaken by the retail giant. The new store is projected to span approximately 160,000 square feet, surpassing the size of the existing South Windsor Costco by about 30,000 square feet.

Popular wholesale retailer Costco is bringing a second store to Windsor, situated off Tecumseh Road East near Lauzon Parkway. The local developer preparing the land aims to open the new store in the coming year. CBC’s Emma Loop provides insights.
Rocco Tullio acknowledged the persistent efforts over two decades to secure a second Costco store in the market. He expressed determination in making this development a reality.
The buzz surrounding the new Costco started when Rock Developments presented an illustration resembling the famous warehouse retailer to city council earlier this year, complete with instructions for “Costco red” signage.

Tullio credited city council and local Members of Parliament for expediting the project launch, achieving approvals in half the typical timeframe of four years.
City Coun. Gary Kaschak, representing the ward, highlighted the positive impact on the area’s growth, emphasizing the three entrance points within the plaza to enhance traffic flow, a sentiment echoed by Tullio.
“Anticipate increased traffic, but the city’s strategic infrastructure planning has prepared the area to manage such traffic effectively,” Kaschak added.
