Nicole Kidman Files for Divorce from Keith Urban

Published:

Nicole Kidman has initiated legal proceedings to end her marriage with Keith Urban after nearly two decades together. The 58-year-old Academy Award-winning actress filed for divorce from the 57-year-old Grammy-winning country singer in a Nashville court, citing marital difficulties and irreconcilable differences.

The couple, who share two teenage daughters, Sunday Rose (17) and Faith Margaret (14), have agreed on a parenting plan that emphasizes providing a loving and stable environment for their children despite the divorce. The plan designates Kidman as the primary residential parent, with the daughters spending the majority of their time with her.

Notably, both Kidman and Urban have stated that they each earn over $100,000 monthly and have agreed that neither party will require child-care or spousal support following the divorce. The dissolution plan outlines a fair division of joint assets, with both individuals retaining ownership of the assets in their respective names, including copyrights and royalties.

The divorce process, which began with the signing of the parenting plan by Urban on August 29 and Kidman on September 6, will take a minimum of 90 days to finalize under Tennessee law. Despite their public image as a strong couple, Kidman and Urban’s decision to part ways came as a surprise to many, as they had previously acknowledged some challenges in their marriage but had not indicated an impending separation.

Kidman, known for her acclaimed roles in films such as “Days of Thunder” and “Moulin Rouge,” has also found success in television, winning Emmy Awards for her work on series like “Big Little Lies.” Urban, a prominent country music star with hits like “Somebody Like You,” recently concluded a successful tour in Canada, showcasing his musical talents to fans across the country.

The couple, who met in 2005 and married in Sydney the following year, have shared a journey marked by both personal and professional milestones, making their decision to part ways all the more impactful.
