Father of Four Fatally Shot in Home Invasion

A man tragically lost his life in front of his children during a targeted home invasion in Vaughan, Ont., according to political leaders and close companions.

Described as a noble individual by his friends, Abdul Aleem Farooqi, a devoted husband and father of four, was known for his faith, charity work, and community involvement.

York Regional Police responded to a report of a home invasion on Andreeta Drive and Barons Street around 1 a.m. on Sunday, where they discovered a man with severe injuries who was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities are seeking three suspects who were reportedly dressed in dark clothing and wearing face coverings during the incident.

Friends of Farooqi expressed shock and disbelief over his death, with some revealing that he was fatally shot in front of his children.

Known as Aleem to many, Farooqi was remembered by his close friend Ehsan Malik as a compassionate individual who always prioritized helping others and serving the community.

Wasib Dheendsa, another family friend, highlighted Farooqi’s role as a devoted family man and a source of inspiration for those around him.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford condemned the heinous act, emphasizing the trauma inflicted on Farooqi’s family and the urgent need for justice.

Vaughan Mayor Steven Del Duca echoed Ford’s sentiments, calling for swift and severe punishment for the perpetrators.

Stephen Lecce, MPP for King-Vaughan, offered his condolences to the grieving family, remembering Farooqi as a dedicated business leader and a loving family man.

Expressing deep sorrow, Ontario Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria denounced the violent incident and emphasized the need to ensure the safety of families in their homes.

A candlelight vigil held in Vaughan in memory of Farooqi drew a large crowd, highlighting the impact of his tragic death on the community.
