“Top Boy Star Micheal Ward Released on Bail Amid Rape Charges”

Published:

British actor Micheal Ward was released on bail following his appearance at a central London court to address charges of rape and sexual assault. The 27-year-old, known for his role as Jamie in the Netflix series “Top Boy,” is facing two rape charges and three counts of sexual assault, with the allegations dating back to January 2023. Ward attended Thames Magistrates’ Court, where he provided his personal details but did not enter a plea. He was granted conditional bail and is scheduled to appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court in northeast London on September 25.

As part of his bail conditions, Ward is prohibited from contacting the alleged victim. The Metropolitan Police have stated their commitment to supporting the woman who came forward with the accusations. Ward has refuted the charges, expressing confidence that his innocence will be proven in court. The actor has been featured in various films, including “Blue Story,” “The Book of Clarence,” and the recently released American political satire “Eddington,” where he starred alongside Joaquin Phoenix and Pedro Pascal.

Ward’s accolades include winning the Rising Star award at the British Academy Film Awards in 2020. He also received nominations for an acting BAFTA for “Empire of Light” directed by Sam Mendes and a BAFTA television award for the Steve McQueen-helmed series “Small Axe.”
