London Man Charged in Human Trafficking Investigation

Published:

A 26-year-old man from London is facing multiple charges in connection with a human trafficking investigation that authorities believe may involve additional victims. The investigation was initiated after a woman reported that a man she had been in a relationship with had coerced her into engaging in sex work shortly after their intimacy began. The woman stated that the man subsequently advertised her services online for financial gain and sent her to various cities for sexual activities between September and December 2024.

The woman also alleged that the accused physically assaulted her on multiple occasions. The man, identified as Shakire Ramone Mendoza, 26, from London, is charged with offenses including human trafficking, benefiting from sexual services, and profiting from trafficking individuals over 18 years old. Additionally, Mendoza faces charges of assault, sexual assault, and suffocation-related assault.

Law enforcement authorities have shared Mendoza’s mugshot, expressing concerns that he may have victimized other women. Mendoza is currently in custody and is set to appear in a London court on September 29. Individuals with relevant information are urged to contact the police or Crime Stoppers.

For assistance related to family or intimate partner violence, crisis lines and local support services are available. In cases of immediate danger, 911 should be contacted. Support services in London can be accessed through Anova, Atlosha Native Family Healing Services, London Abused Women’s Centre, Regional Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Treatment Centre, and Victim Services of Middlesex-London.
