Microsoft Azure users may face difficulties accessing Office 365, Minecraft, and other services as the tech giant addresses cloud service issues, according to an announcement made on Wednesday. The company indicated on its Azure status page that it is actively investigating problems linked to its Azure Front Door service, with an expectation of “initial signs of recovery” appearing shortly for customers.
Although Microsoft has not yet provided a formal comment, it has acknowledged the situation on both its status page and social media platforms. Given the widespread utilization of Microsoft’s cloud service across numerous sites and services, any disruption like this can have far-reaching consequences.
Reports from users have surfaced regarding issues with various services such as Office 365, Minecraft, X-Box Live, Costco, Starbucks’ mobile apps and websites, as well as Copilot, among others, as tracked on Downdetector, a website that monitors online outages.
These incidents with Microsoft’s Azure platform come shortly after a significant outage of Amazon’s cloud computing service, impacting a wide array of online services encompassing social media, gaming, food delivery, streaming, and financial platforms. Notably, these problems emerged just hours before Microsoft’s scheduled release of its quarterly earnings report.
It is worth noting that while Amazon retains a dominant position in cloud computing services, Microsoft holds the second position, overtaking Google in most markets.
