Israel announced on Monday that the Red Cross had transferred the body of another deceased hostage from Gaza to the Israeli military, as stated by the Israeli prime minister’s office. With this new transfer, it suggests that 12 hostages’ remains still reside in Gaza, with Palestinian militant group Hamas facing challenges in locating them amidst the debris from the conflict.
The retrieval and transfer of deceased hostages’ bodies in Gaza have posed difficulties for U.S. President Donald Trump’s Gaza initiative. A spokesperson from the Israeli government mentioned that the militant group is aware of the bodies’ locations.
In a bid to address this issue, Israel permitted an Egyptian technical team to collaborate with the Red Cross for locating the bodies. The team will utilize excavator machines and trucks for the search operation beyond the designated yellow line in Gaza, where Israeli troops retreated initially under Trump’s plan.
