The Rolling Stones have officially announced the upcoming release of their new album, “Foreign Tongues,” set to debut on July 10. Along with this news, the band has unveiled a fresh single named “In The Stars.”
To mark the occasion, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood are scheduled to participate in a special album launch event in Brooklyn later today.
The band’s previous album, “Hackney Diamonds,” was released in 2023 and marked their return to original material after an 18-year hiatus since “A Bigger Bang” in 2005. Notably, “Hackney Diamonds” was also the first full-length record following the passing of drummer Charlie Watts in 2021. Watts posthumously appeared on two tracks of that album.
“Foreign Tongues” is said to feature a poignant contribution from Watts, recorded during one of his final sessions. Additionally, the album will showcase collaborations with notable artists such as Steve Winwood, Paul McCartney, Robert Smith of The Cure, and Chad Smith from the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Mick Jagger expressed enthusiasm for the recording process at Metropolis in London, emphasizing the intense yet passionate atmosphere during the creation of “Foreign Tongues.”
The Stones have continued their successful partnership with renowned pop producer Andrew Watt, who previously worked on “Hackney Diamonds” and has now lent his expertise to “Foreign Tongues.”
Hints about the new album had been circulating for weeks before the official announcement. Clues included mysterious posters in London under the alias “The Cockroaches,” leading fans to a vinyl release of a track titled “Rough and Twisted.” Subsequent billboards featuring the phrase “Foreign Tongues” in multiple languages and cryptic online updates built anticipation for the album’s reveal.
The band’s website was revamped with intriguing video snippets resembling studio surveillance footage, while a slide puzzle and a teaser video further fueled excitement among fans, ultimately unveiling the official album cover and hinting at new music.
