Meanwhile, the Argos, with a 5-12 record, have been eliminated from playoff contention.
Quarterback Trevor Harris, who had a stellar performance with 340 yards and two touchdowns, emphasized the importance of maximizing their preparations for the upcoming final. The Riders have two more regular-season games before the playoffs, with a road game in Winnipeg on Oct. 17 and a home game against B.C. on Oct. 25. The West semifinal is scheduled for Oct. 1, with the winner advancing to the West final in Regina on Oct. 8.
Head coach Corey Mace is strategizing on utilizing the next four weeks to ensure the team is fully prepared for the postseason. Despite a strong effort from the Argonauts, the Riders managed to secure the win, with kicker Brett Lauther sealing the victory with his fifth field goal. Lauther, who faced some challenges this season, received praise from his teammates for his performance.
Argos quarterback Jarret Doege, filling in for the injured Nick Arbuckle, showcased resilience in just his third CFL start despite facing some hard hits during the game. Doege’s efforts were acknowledged by head coach Ryan Dinwiddie, who commended his toughness and performance under pressure.
In addition, Riders’ players Joe Robustelli and Tommy Nield scored touchdowns, while Doege completed 20 of 31 passes for 221 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Kicker Liram Hajrullahu continued his impressive season, converting four field goals and maintaining a high success rate in field goal attempts.
The Roughriders are now gearing up for the playoffs, aiming to carry their momentum through the final games of the season and into the postseason competition.
