Free-agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has agreed to a six-game suspension imposed by the NFL due to a reported failed performance-enhancing drug test from last year, as revealed on the Pivot podcast on Tuesday. The NFL has informed Beckham that he will not be able to return to play until Week 12.
During the podcast, the 32-year-old Beckham denied knowingly taking any performance-enhancing substances. Last season, he played nine games with the Miami Dolphins, recording only nine receptions for 55 yards, marking significant career lows for him.
Despite the setback, the seasoned NFL player, who was a first-round pick in the 2014 draft and had successful seasons with the New York Giants, expressed his desire to continue playing this season. After being traded to the Cleveland Browns in 2019 and then to the Los Angeles Rams in 2021, Beckham contributed to the Rams winning the Super Bowl in 2021, although he suffered an ACL injury during the game.
Throughout his career, Beckham has amassed 575 catches for 7,987 yards, placing him 119th in NFL history for career receiving yards.
