“Fatal Fire Claims Life in Montreal Building Blaze”

A 77-year-old individual passed away following a massive fire that erupted in the Plateau-Mont-Royal district of Montreal at approximately 4:50 a.m. on Sunday. The fire extensively damaged a mixed residential and commercial building spanning three floors at the junction of Mont-Royal Avenue East and Saint-André Street. Originating on the third floor, the fire quickly spread to the building’s roof.

Emergency services rushed a man to the hospital, where he remained in critical condition on Sunday morning. Tragically, Montreal police later confirmed his demise in the afternoon. Approximately 150 firefighters were deployed to battle the flames, with Montreal police and paramedics also present at the scene. As a safety measure, power was shut off in the vicinity. By 8:30 a.m., the firefighters successfully extinguished the fire.

Authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the fire’s cause, which remained undetermined as of Sunday afternoon.
