“Rush Teases Special Event at 2026 Juno Awards”

Published:

Legendary rock band Rush has teased a special event at the upcoming 2026 Juno Awards in Hamilton. In a newsletter to fans, the band hinted at a moment to celebrate with Geddy & Alex, urging followers to grab tickets for the March 29th Junos.

Last fall, Rush’s Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson announced plans for a 2026 tour, which will feature Anika Nilles as the drummer, succeeding the late Neil Peart who passed away from brain cancer in 2020. Nilles, a renowned German drummer known for her popular YouTube channel and previous collaboration with Jeff Beck in 2022, impressed Lee during her time with Beck.

While details remain scarce, a potential performance by the band at the Junos would present the current lineup for the first time before their upcoming world tour. The tour, dubbed Fifty Something, will commence in Los Angeles in June, with four shows scheduled at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena in August, along with stops in Vancouver and Edmonton in December.

Since its formation in Toronto in 1968, Rush has released 19 studio albums and achieved numerous sales milestones, including 24 gold albums, 14 platinum albums, and three multi-platinum albums. Recently, the band released a box set titled Grace Under Pressure: Super Deluxe, featuring their iconic 1984 concert at Toronto’s Maple Leaf Gardens, considered a highlight of their creative prowess.

Over the years, Rush has garnered accolades at the Juno Awards, winning ten times in various categories, including the inaugural award for best hard rock/metal album in 1991 with Presto. CBC Music has made inquiries to the band for additional insights.
