RCMP Investigates Illegal Border Crossing Attempt

Published:

On Friday night, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) launched an investigation following an incident where over a dozen individuals attempted to enter Quebec illegally near Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle. According to an email statement received on Saturday, a spokesperson for the RCMP revealed that law enforcement intercepted 16 individuals, while two more are currently being sought for their involvement.

The email highlighted that the intercepted individuals were trying to cross the border unlawfully. Despite the apprehension of 16 people, an unspecified number of drivers believed to be linked to the illegal crossing were released due to insufficient evidence, as stated by the spokesperson.

Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, the spokesperson refrained from disclosing further details. The Canada Border Services Agency declined to comment on the matter and redirected all inquiries to the RCMP.
