“Joni Mitchell Tribute and Rising Stars at 55th Juno Awards”

Published:

Sarah McLachlan, roots singer Allison Russell, and up-and-coming country artist Cameron Whitcomb are set to grace the stage at the 55th Juno Awards in Hamilton on March 29. McLachlan and Russell will team up for a special performance honoring Joni Mitchell, who will be presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award for her significant contributions to music globally.

Mitchell, a five-time Juno winner, will be recognized for her groundbreaking songwriting that has left an indelible mark on the music industry. McLachlan and Russell, who were previously part of the “Joni Jam” live band assembled by Brandi Carlile, have a history of performing Mitchell’s songs. Russell notably performed “Both Sides, Now” at the 2025 SOCAN Awards, where Mitchell received the Global Impact Award.

Cameron Whitcomb, hailing from Nanaimo, B.C., will make his Junos debut with five nominations, trailing just behind Tate McRae and Justin Bieber. Whitcomb, known for his authentic and raw country music style, gained popularity after appearing on American Idol in 2022. His album “The Hard Way” has garnered critical acclaim for its heartfelt storytelling.

In addition to McLachlan, Russell, and Whitcomb, the lineup for the Juno Awards includes performances by the Beaches, Arkells, William Prince, and Daniel Caesar. The Juno Week Kickoff concert on March 26 will feature acts such as James Barker Band, Robyn Ottolini, Sacha, Kalsey Kulyk, and the Redhill Valleys. Junofest, a two-night concert series presented by CBC, will showcase nearly 70 artists across various venues in Hamilton on March 27 and 28.

Furthermore, a special ceremony on March 28 will pay tribute to Indigenous voices shaping the music landscape, with performances by Little Creek Singers, Siibii, and YB Nakota. The Juno Awards promise a diverse and vibrant celebration of Canadian music talent.
