“Canada Welcomes Back Star Defender for FIFA Matches”

Canada’s head coach, Jesse Marsch, is pleased to welcome back a vital player, Moise Bombito, to the national team for the upcoming FIFA international matches in October. Bombito, a defender, makes a return to the team after a four-month absence due to wrist surgery and a tibia stress fracture.

The Canadian men’s team, currently ranked at a record No. 26 by FIFA, will face Australia, ranked No. 25, in Bombito’s hometown of Montreal on October 10 at Stade Saputo. They will then take on Colombia, ranked No. 14, on October 14 at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, N.J.

Marsch expressed his excitement about Bombito’s return, highlighting the player’s maturity and high-level performances with Nice. He emphasized Bombito’s significance and potential impact on the national team.

Having made a mark at the 2024 Copa America, Bombito secured a move to OGC Nice in France after impressing with MLS’s Colorado Rapids. Despite his recent injuries, Bombito played a full 90 minutes in a Ligue 1 match against Paris FC, showcasing his recovery and readiness to contribute to the team.

Marsch mentioned that while Bombito is expected to start in one of the upcoming matches, precautions will be taken to avoid any risks of further injuries. The coach also provided updates on other key players, including Alphonso Davies, Alistair Johnston, and Sam Adekugbe, who are currently sidelined due to various injuries.

The national team roster includes notable names such as Jonathan David and Stephen Eustaquio, with Marsch emphasizing the importance of the upcoming matches for the team’s preparation and development towards future competitions.

Looking ahead, Canada is set to face Ecuador and Venezuela in November as part of their journey towards co-hosting the 2026 World Cup. The team continues to strengthen its squad and prepare for upcoming challenges on the international stage.
